Dina Khoury

Dina Khoury embodies the essence of cultural diversity and artistic expression, seamlessly blending her Middle Eastern roots with a passion for modelling and acting. Now, as she continues to challenge stereotypes and advocate for inclusivity, her influence extends far beyond the confines of the industry.

What inspired your recent collaboration for your cover photo shoot, which beautifully combines fashion with natural elements?

The Retreat Magazine photoshoot merged fashion, sensuality and the breathtaking backdrop of the Amangiri resort. With an array of resort-chic styles, the shoot radiated power and elegance while showcasing the natural scenic beauty of the mountains.

Growing up, you balanced modelling with studies in psychology and working with children. How do you think these experiences have shaped you as both a professional and an individual?

I apply psychology daily in my profession or interactions with others. Working with children revealed my nurturing side and heightened my empathy towards the crucial impact of a positive childhood on adulthood. I carry these lessons and the knowledge of human behaviour while working with so many different personalities throughout my career in the fashion industry.

Who or what has been the greatest influence on your journey into the world of modelling and acting?

Iconic figures like Gisele Bündchen, Adriana Lima, Tyra Banks, Cindy Crawford, Audrey Hepburn and Angelina Jolie.

As a model of Middle Eastern descent, you’ve mentioned breaking stereotypes and promoting cultural inclusivity. Can you elaborate on the importance of representation in the fashion and entertainment industries?

I believe it’s crucial to challenge stereotypes and foster cultural inclusivity. Beauty isn’t limited to one culture, shape, or size. By promoting diversity, we’re opening more doors and amplifying diverse voices in these industries.

Could you share a memorable moment or experience from your travels that left a lasting impression on you?

My most memorable moments were visiting iconic landmarks like Petra in Jordan, Es Vedra, one of the most magnetic points on the planet in Spain, and visiting historical monuments in Rome. Swimming with sharks and stingrays off my bungalow in the Maldives was magical. Watching a mesmerizing sunset from the top of the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, is a moment that I’ll always cherish. Witnessing the circle of life on safaris in Kenya was one of the most incredible experiences.

With your focus on both modelling and acting, how do you see these two worlds intersecting in your career, and what excites you most about this convergence?

Modelling and acting complement each other, both involving performance and storytelling. They require the ability to convey emotions, inhabit characters, and communicate messages whether through fashion or film. I enjoy learning more about my ability to express myself whether it’s through a beautiful flowing gown or in character on set.

In your pursuit of acting, you mentioned working with coaches to delve deeper into expressing yourself. How has this journey of self-discovery enhanced your approach to acting?

Acting challenges you to express emotions you never knew you had. I learned through coaches how to dig deep into my past and learn how my own experiences can be transformed into character. Acting is a form of art that challenges me to grow and evolve.

Looking ahead, what are your professional and personal aspirations for the future, and how do you envision yourself making an impact in the industry?

In the future, I aim to expand my presence in both modelling and acting. I am focused on starting my own brand and will share more details on that soon!
