Josie Canseco, daughter of former Major League Baseball player Jose Canseco and former model Jessica Canseco, is making a name for herself in the fashion industry. Her journey began in 2012 on VH1’s Hollywood Exes and continued with a role in the web series SummerBreak 2. However, it was at Coachella Music Festival that photographer Bryant Eslava discovered her and her career skyrocketed.

Now, Josie is a seasoned model, having walked the runway at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and posed for luxurious hotel shoots. She’s a jet-setter who knows how to travel in style. Here, Josie reveals her favourite luxury hotels, packing hacks, must-have beauty products, and fashion lessons learned while on the road. How do you balance comfort and style when travelling for work?

I don’t think it needs to be a choice! comfort and style are now the DNA and backbone of so many of my favourite designers and labels. I do love a sweatsuit when I’m commuting. But depending on the city I’m going to, I’ll try and pack some options that fit the energy of where I’m gonna be.

What are your favourite luxury hotels or resorts and what makes them stand out to you?

There are so many great hotels. I love modern but cozy places. A place that could feel like home.

How do you maintain your beauty routine while travelling for modelling assignments?

Self-care is extremely therapeutic and important so it’s never difficult to maintain. I just don’t cut corners and I never forget to follow through with my routine.

What’s your favourite packing hack that helps you stay organized and efficient?

I like to plan all my outfits ahead of time so I don’t overpack. I go through exactly what I need and even try things on before making sure it is coordinated with the weather and that I have everything I need.

What’s the most important fashion lesson you’ve learned from travelling for work?

Be comfortable!

What are your go-to outfits for long-haul flights?

My go-to is either a sweatsuit with sneakers or leggings, a big peacoat, a hat and sneakers.

What are some must-have items you always pack for modelling assignments?

Nude bras and underwear, a razor, good hair and skin products, face masks, and a good book.

What are your tips for maintaining healthy skin while traveling frequently for work?

Hydration! Drinking plenty of water, eating as clean as possible, and making sure to never cut corners on your skincare routine. Often, I’ll even add a heavier serum before bed.

How do you stay active and energized while on the road for modelling assignments?

I love to work and love to travel. I get a bit of a fix from a new adventure for work so that naturally keeps me pretty uplifted and excited. If I want to exercise on the road I’ll do some simple workouts wherever I’m staying or go for a run.

How do you balance work and life?

Well if you get lucky enough to really love what you do, work and life all meshes into one. My life revolves around my work, and I love to have a structure and schedule every day to better that work. When it comes to my social life, I can count my closest friends on one hand. Those are the friendships I take time to nurture and maintain, other than that I like to be home with my dog Ron.

What’s your favourite destination for shopping while travelling?

I’m honestly not a huge shopper when I travel, but I’d have to say New York specifically because you have everything all within a few blocks in Soho and they have such a diverse collection of shops. From vintage boutique stores to Sephora to Chanel, you can find whatever you need.

What travel-friendly beauty products do you always bring with you?

I always bring a hydration mist and good moisturizer everywhere while I’m travelling and will occasionally bring a face mask and my jade face roller to help with any puffiness.

What’s on your travel wishlist for the next few years?

I’ve been dying to visit Kyoto, Japan for a few years now. It looks like one of the most beautiful places on earth and I hope this year it works out to visit!
