What are skin boosters?

Skin boosters are a treatment aimed at improving skin hydration, texture, elasticity and balance. Dermal fillers containing hyaluronic acid have given us the ability to restore lost volume, contour the face and improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Until recently there have been limited options to improve the quality and look of the skin in those who are seeking cosmetic enhancements. Enter skin boosters – injectable hyaluronic acid moisturisers. 

How do skin boosters work?

Skin boosters are similar to dermal fillers in that they contain hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring substance that exists in our skin. Hyaluronic acid works to maintain hydration of the skin by binding closely with water and supporting vital collagen and elastin, which work to maintain the integrity and suppleness of our skin. Think of skin boosters like micro-droplets of a long lasting, water-loving substance, which will absorb water, bringing deep hydration, improved firmness and improved smoothness to the skin.

As we age, we lose collagen and elastin, resulting in the skin’s repair mechanisms slowing down creating poor skin tone and texture, lack of elasticity, and the formation of wrinkles and folds. Unlike dermal fillers, skin boosters do not add volume or structure to the skin – they work in more subtle ways to improve the overall skin balance and ‘boost’ the appearance of the skin.

What results can I expect?

All ages can benefit from these treatments and those focused on prevention and improving skin quality will see the most dramatic results. Patients will notice their skin feel much more hydrated at this time. Other noticeable changes are an increase in skin firmness and elasticity, improved skin texture, reduced scarring, reduced fine lines and wrinkles, reduced pore size, smoother skin and an increased light reflection or ‘glow’. Most patients report their skin feeling plump, youthful and glowing after treatment.

In studies by Allergan 96% of patients had improved skin quality one month following treatment, and 91% had an overall increased satisfaction with their skin. What is AquaGold?

AquaGold Fine Touch is a medical facial which delivers custom cocktail solutions into the skin much like mesotherapy. It uses a special patented gold metal micro-needle delivery system from the USA. How Does AquaGold work?

The AquaGold Fine Touch needles deliver active ingredients to a depth of 600 microns which is the ideal depth for maximal action of the solutions. The needles are finer than a human hair resulting in a painless treatment with no down time unlike traditional skin needling. The treatment is painless and the needles are gently stamped into the skin to allow the solution to seamlessly enter the dermis of the skin. 

Aquagold  has a multitude of effects on the skin. We see a reduction in sebum and oil production which helps control acne and reduce congestion. Pore size is also reduced due to the effect from the micro doses of anti-wrinkle injections. This stops the shine from makeup and gives a flawless finish to the skin.

We also love to experiment with the addition of tailored mesotherapy solutions such as Vitamin C, glutathione, niacinamide, tranexamic acid, DMAE, peptides and antioxidants. These produce an additional benefit to skin health by increasing hydration, stimulating collagen production, reducing pigmentation and giving antioxidant support. Combining this with small doses of hyaluronic acid (such as microdoses of skin boosters or a low concentration dermal filler) works to intensely hydrate the skin and can help fibroblasts produce more collagen.
