Resort collections are on the move. Karl Lagerfeld started the trend when he took Chanel to Seoul. Raf Simmons will show Dior in South of France next week. And last week… well, last week Louis Vuitton was California dreaming in sunny Palm Springs. Nicolas Ghesquière showed his latest Resort 2016 collection at the Bob Hope Estate that he first laid eyes on nearly 15 years ago. The estate, which is currently for sale for a cool 25 million (hint, hint), clearly made an impression. Especially if the designer was moved enough to return to the John Lautner-designed house so many years later.

The collection itself touched on an old Hollywood vibe made for a starlet on her way to the moon… the pieces were modern with leather motocross jackets, chain mail or sporty scuba pieces. I have two words for you: Hot Pants. Worn with just about everything, these bad boys were made barely there and scream, “Look at me.” No doubt we’ll be seeing these again. Perhaps, on the likes of Miranda Kerr, Michelle Williams or Selena Gomez who were all in attendance? Also noteworthy, Kanye West was there. Need I say more?

Ghesquière showed his first collection for the brand 14 months ago and has since been developing his signature style. As collections go, this one was a home run for the designer. Welcome to California Ghesquière, why don’t you stay awhile?
