Ecology and cultural immersion is a key part of the Turtle Island experience. During your stay, visit a lush five-acre garden tended by three full-time staff, meet the island’s artisans who make the furnishings, learn about the “farm of light” where their extensive solar installation made Turtle Island one of the first ever clean energy resorts in the world. 

Once denuded of its lush rainforest and vegetation, there have been more than half a million trees planted on the island, encouraging biodiversity, preventing soil erosion and creating windbreaks. 

Turtle Island is also a very special place for the sea turtles that make their home on its shores. As a result of being spectacularly beautiful and tasty creatures, endangered sea turtles are sadly hunted.
